Mr. Neil maintains a diverse practice composed of criminal and regulatory defence. He has successfully defended clients across Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Ontario. In addition to his work inside the courtroom, he provides advice to clients at the early stages of an investigation often before charges are laid.
Mr. Neil approaches every file with meticulous attention and passion. With a multidisciplinary background, combining experience in financial and information systems assurance, Mr. Neil is equipped to navigate complex white-collar cases including fraud and economic crimes. He practices all areas of criminal law with a focus on financial offences, drug offences, violent offences, and tech-based police investigations.
He previously practiced at a nationally recognized criminal defence firm based out of Calgary and a leading Winnipeg criminal defence firm. In those roles, he became experienced in all areas of criminal law with a focus on drug cases, violent crime, and white-collar matters. Before devoting himself to criminal defence, Mr. Neil summered at a full-service national law firm, and worked as both a financial and information systems auditor at one of the world’s largest professional service firms.
Mr. Neil is a member of the Canadian Bar Association, Calgary Bar Association, Calgary Criminal Defence Lawyers’ Association and Manitoba Criminal Defence Lawyers’ Association.
He is called to the bar in Alberta and Manitoba and accepts matters throughout Western Canada on a case-by-case basis.
